Change excerpt

Please help! I can’t change the excerpts that read “This is just a short excerpt for the about page.”
Thank you.

Go to your Dashboard (http://circcentral.wordpress.com/wp-admin/). From the left sidebar select Posts > All Posts. Select the posts you want to edit from the list. Once you are inside the post editor below the post’s body text editor, there is a textbox named Excerpt where you can write a summary of your post to be displayed in your frontpage.
-
It looks as though on the Edin theme, those excerpts are part of the front page template https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/edin/ and the “posts” involved are actually pages.
In Edin, when you go to edit the page you should see, as fstat said, a textbox for excerpts. If you don’t see it, click on the screen options at the top right of your screen and tick the box for Excerpts.
-
As fstat mentioned, you’ll need to add the excerpt in the Excerpt box in the WP Admin editor here:
https://circcentral.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4&action=edit
https://circcentral.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=5&action=edit
If you don’t see the Excerpt box, open the Screen Options
at the top and make sure it’s checked off. -
Then I apologize for my confusion, but when I looked at the OP’s front page (screenshot), both of these look like pages to me:

justjennifer – correct, they are pages. Edin supports page excerpts, but the page excerpt box is currently missing in the new editor.

Thanks to everyone, problem solved. As I am new to WordPress I never expected such quick and expert help. Thanks again!

Hi all,
I am also new to WordPress, and I think I am i the right place to ask the following question: I have my self-hosted website (www.olivoa.eu, but managed as olivoadoteu.wordpress.com/), using the Edin template for which I would like to have a front page as shown in the example. By that I mean to have a strong, full-width picture with a short message in it (either left- or right-aligned). I would also like to have some black-on-white text below that, as a matter of welcome. As it is the front page, it should be called “Home”, in the navigation list, or main menu. However, if I call that page “Home”, that same word appears in the full-width picture, so actually where I would like to see my short message (‘call to action’ it is called in the example). If I change the page title from “Home” to my specific ‘call to action’, then that ‘call to action’ appears in its full length in the menu, which looks too long and unprofessional. I am sure I am overlooking something, but I think/feel I have tried everything and not managed to customise this as I want it… Any help is greatly appreciated ! Thanks ! -
