Change file URL

    Hello, I would like to change the URL of a file in the MEdia library. How can I do this?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there, If you have a plugin-enabled site, it will receive an .wpcomstaging.com address instead of a .wordpress.com address. This address is fixed and cannot be changed. It’s really best thought of as a temporary address since it’s not very well-optimized for SEO.

    Do you have a custom domain you wish to use instead? If you set your site to use a custom address it will immediately update the media URLs to that new domain as well. If you already have a domain with another provider, you can connect it and set it as the address for your WordPress.com site here: https://wordpress.com/domains/add/use-my-domain/

    You are using this site to offer your CV online, yes? I noticed on your homepage that you are hinting at your email address, but if I can make a suggestion, you will cut down on spam emails considerably by adding a contact form instead. This will allow anyone to send you a message (to any email address you wish) without exposing your email publicly. Unfortunately spam bots can be pretty good at figuring out what your address is based on what is on your homepage now.

    I forgot to add that if you do opt to add a custom domain to your site (which I highly recommend) it may also be helpful to add a custom email address. Especially for job prospecting, a custom email address that matches your CV website can really boost your response rate. It just helps you to stand out a little bit more than everyone else with a free email address.
