change font color in text editing window
-
If I upgrade to premium will I have the option to better format my text while editing a post.? What I am hoping is that while creating a post or new page in the text editing window while typing out my content have the ability to highlight text and change the color? This to me seems like a very basic feature that should be in the free version. But if it is in the premium version then I will upgrade, I just have no way of knowing.
Thanks for the help. Tony

Hi Tony,
I see you went ahead and upgraded to the Premium plan. That plan doesn’t change the options you have in the editor while writing your posts — it includes Custom Colors and Custom CSS options to make overall changes to your theme’s design. (So, for example, you can change the default color of all the text in your blog posts.)
To make changes to specific words or phrases in your posts, you’ll need to know some HTML/CSS and make those changes in the HTML tab in the editor. I’d recommend using some of the resources mentioned at the end of our Advanced HTML page to learn more about that.

HI, thanks for your response. I upgraded to premium because I am going to switch over an existing domain.
I did find how to edit any text to any color in poster editor by opening up the second row of tool bars. Don’t know why that had to hide that. Took me forever to find that out. geeesh.
So now I am just stuck with trying to change the font color of header and post title fonts. That seems a bit more difficult and needs css. Trying to figure that out now.

Ah, you’re right! I forgot about that text color tool in the editor. That second row is hidden by default in the WordPress software (the open-source software WordPress.com runs) but there is some discussion about possibly changing that behavior. Thanks for the feedback about it. :)

I see you have a post over in the CSS Customization forum about that:

That’s the best place to get help with customizing your theme further, as there are a number of expert staff and volunteers who can answer your CSS questions there. You might also want to check out these support resources we have for working with CSS:

Thanks! I am learning. I have much to absorb! I have been designing html static only webpages for years and am just now finally getting into the template design. It’s a different world. I am working on transferring my entire site here: http://spaghettisauceandmeatballs.com/ to be a WordPress site. A monumental task but I feel will be worth the effort. I am diving in all the way! Helpful people like you will get me through this I am sure.

Oh, that’s really cool! I enjoy cooking from scratch when I have the time and I might just have to try some of your recipes. :) Cooking is definitely a learning process for me, too (and also worth the effort when it goes well).
If you get stuck and need a hand with anything more on your site, let me know. You can also get in touch with us on our contact page whenever you need.

yes, you should try the full Sunday Gravy with all the meats recipe. Takes all day long but it’s more than just cooking. It’s an event! ..and you have to pour lots of love into the cooking like grandma did! :-)
Thanks, I’m adding you to my list. Much appreciated as a navigate these uncharted waters.

Oh.. one more thing I was concerned about. Off the topic of fonts.
I do notice that the images I am uploading have a specific path to the temporary wordpress domain name I have at the moment.
I want to keep my old site alive while I am working through setting up the site on wordpress then will change the domain. Will the path to all images automatically update or will I have to go back and change all that once i change the domain?
I’ve already asked this somewhere else on some other forum, getting confused as to which forums I have been on. Trying to get organized.

You won’t need to make any manual changes after you add your domain name to your WordPress.com site. Your images will actually always use your site’s underlying *.wordpress.com address, rather than your domain name, and they’ll keep working like that after you add your domain name to the site.
