Change Footer/Sidebar Color

I need to change my footer/sidebar color to plain white but I have no idea about CSS. I tried a couple threads on this topic but none seemed to have a solution.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Can you post a link to the WordPress.com site you need help with?
The site you linked to isn’t hosted here, it uses the WordPress.org software and they have their own forums.
Here’s a handy explanation of the differences.

our site isnt live yet because the old site and the new have the same domain, i have yet to transfer it.Also i am in the Radcliffe theme

Thanks for explaining – that makes sense. Is your WordPress.com site set to private? If not post the URL here so I can take a look.
From what I can see of the Radcliffe theme demo site the backgrounds to the footer and sidebar sections already are white. If you can’t show me the site could you upload and link to a screenshot of how both sections look now so I can get a better idea of what you’re trying to do.

To change both the bottom widget area and the actual footer backgrounds you can use this:
footer, .widget-area { background-color: #fff; } -
