Change Free wordpress Domain, possible?

  • Unknown's avatar

In the ACCOUNT SETTINGS the WEB ADDRESS says http://cebutele-net.wordpress.com.
BUT on the actual window the DOMAIN appears https://cebutelenetcom.wordpress.com/.

My company wants to use the FIRST DOMAIN to test the new format of our site. We’re using a FREE ADDRESS at the moment but we are open to registering a plan in the near future if the new format of our site works well and gets more reach.

For the moment, HOW DO I CHANGE the FREE ADDRESS so that in the actual window, it says http://cebutele-net.wordpress.com. (which is the web address in the account setting) and NOT https://cebutelenetcom.wordpress.com/ (which is what appears in the window)?

    Thank You

    Hi there:

You can set any URL you choose in your account settings – whether you own the site URL or not or if the site even exists – so that entry would have zero impact on your actual website.

Additionally, you would not be able to register the address cebutele-net.wordpress.com. Site names can only contain lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers, so a URL with a dash would not be valid.

Upgrading to a paid plan would allow you to register a domain for your site which you could use instead of the free *.wordpress.com URL. You can review the different plan options here, which also gives you more support options like email and live chat support (Premium and up):

    I hope that helps!
