Change from Paid to Free Website
-
Hi!
I currently own saylorsmom.com but have just cancelled my subscription with BlueHost. I am wondering if there is a way that I can change my WordPress website from paid to free without loosing any of my content? I understand that my domain would change to ‘saylorsmom.wordpress.com’ which I am completely fine with. I simply just do not want to loose all of my blog posts. Thank you!

Would you like to import your content here? You’ll want the site with Bluehost to be active until the transfer is complete:
If you want to move content to WordPress.com from another WordPress site (either WordPress.com or a WordPress.org site), use the Import Content option. This option will import a copy of your pages, posts, and media to your new WordPress.com site, but not plugins, the theme, or other design elements. Import the Content To import content from another WordPress site: Export your site’s coPersonally, I would also suggest connecting the domain here and using the free address as primary for at least a few months. If you set it up that way, anyone who finds a link to the old domain (including search engines, links from social media, etc) will automatically be redirected to the new .wordpress.com address. This will require a Personal Plan at minimum, but after a while, everyone (again, including search engines) will be using the free address.
If you want to set that up, pick up a Personal Plan, then let us know and we can help make sure it’s configured right. Cheers!
