Change from WordPress.org to WordPress.com

    I want to switch themes from wordpress.org to a new theme at wordpress.com, I pay a lot for my bluehost account. I have a domain name which I will keep. Is this a hard cumbersome thing to change? I am familiar with WordPress through the 6 years I have had WordPress.org.

    Hi there,

    If you have a custom domain registered with Bluehost and purchased one of our paid plans, you can use that domain as the primary address for your WordPress.com site.

    You can either map it – your domain will stay with the current registrar, and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain-related.

    Or you can transfer the domain to WordPress.com, and we’ll be your new registrar. This way, you’ll manage everything from one place, and you’ll be able to reach support with any domain related-issues :)

    Hi there,

    Is the main thing here that you want to use a theme on WordPress.com? If so, you don’t need to switch to WordPress.com completely. All our themes have a self-hosted version that can be downloaded from the showcase page for the specific theme, or if you install the Jetpack plugin on your site and use that to connect it to your WordPress.com account, you’ll also be able to install any WordPress.com theme from My Site ->Appearance ->Themes in the WordPress.com dashboard.
