Change header images, how to download existing to get exact sizes

  Hello,

  I have a blog and would like to change out the color of the header. It is blue now and I have redesigned the new header in green. How do I retrieve the existing images so that I can size the new header and background images correctly. After that how do I upload them and replace the existing images?
