Change How Post Is Shared
-
I posted this question a couple months back but couldn’t find it in the threads.
I share my WP post using the sharing option to Twitter and Facebook. I also have the email subscription/follow widget. I am wondering if there is a way I can edit A – what is sent in the email when someone follows my blog. B – what is shared to Facebook.
My blog posts are each EXACTLY 25 words. When the post shares to Facebook and email, the entire blog post is viewable on desktop sites, which is causing a decrease in site traffic. I tried creating an excerpt but that didn’t affect the sharing or email.
Thanks for the help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry but I don’t have anything additional to offer to the response s made last time https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/editing-linked-fb-post?replies=3#post-2256362

Have you tried disconnecting Publicize and simply posting manually to Facebook?

Yes, if I copy and paste the link to FB it just has the url and not the thumbnail of the blog. So manually positing works. But since I post daily, manually sharing to FB isn’t always possible, since I’m working most days at the time my posts are scheduled.
I was just hoping there might be a more convenient way. Thanks for the insight!

I’m also wondering what would happen if you used Publicize but embedded an image in each post prior to the text. https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#images-in-publicize

Hm, I didn’t think of that. I will have to give it a try! I’ll have the added challenge of coming up with a logo or image for each post though. Thank you!

I wound up scheduling the post on Facebook with my blog’s URL. That resolved the issue! Thanks!
