Change in Dashboard – no link to view site
-
I noticed yesterday that the Dashboard had changed. Today when I made a brief update to one of my widgets I then wanted to view the site to see how it looked and the link that used to be at the top of the Dashboard to view my site is no longer there. Can this be brought back? I actually could find no simple way to view the site from the Dashboard – not even from the dropdown at the very top. If it has been moved it’s not obvious where it was moved to. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Click on the blog name on the left side of the top gray navigation bar and you will go to your home page.

@mrsmarvel
If you have trouble locating the blog name link you can see here the announcement and illustrations > Drag & Drop Media Uploader & Flyout Dashboard Menus -

This is not working for me. When I click the name of my site I only go to the dashboard. I’m clicking the name between the WordPress icon on left and the “Like” and Stat icons on the right of the site name. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

If you are referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog then when you are on the Admin side of your blog look at the top left hand corner. There at the very top you will see the permalinked name of your blog – click it.

Why don’t you simply add your blog and your dashboard to the bookmarks bar of your browser? That way you’ll never have to bother again with where WP put things this month.

Yes I have a free WordPress.com blog. I think I am looking in the same location as you describe. I can’t get a screen shot attached, but it is the left hand side of the darker gray bar across the top immediately above the picture of home and word Dashboard.
I do have a bookmark (actually separate tab) in Firefox 8.0 that went to my site from the outside. When I go there now I see the home page. If I click to move to another page it takes me to the dashboard instead.
I thought of opening in Safari, but all tabs, both Firefox and Safari, seem to know I’m logged in and revert to the dashboard. I have 3 blogs under this login. The one I’m working on now is the primary, if that matters.
The original name of my domain is council2010.wordpress.com. The site redirect is Council-dwtx.org. The name I see in my gray admin area is “Council 2012 blog” (site title) . When I click it the address bar first shows http://council-dwtx.org, then it automatically changes to http://council2010.wordpress.com/wp-admin/.
At this point I’m at a loss on how to function without logging out on all tabs. My next option is to add a second computer to the mix. That seems to work.

That’s normal. Your blog content is in this .wordpress.com sub-domain > http://council2010.wordpress.com/ and it is being domain mapped to http://council-dwtx.org. Simply click “Council 2012 blog” (site title) and you will be on the front page of that blog.

Thanks for your response. You’ve patiently answered me three times. And I’ve clicked on “Council 2012 blog” about 300 times. It does not take me to my Home page, just the dashboard. Since no one else is having problems, I’m going to assume it is my particular Mac, Firefox, etc setup that is causing the problem. And I’m going to move forward with my laptop open beside me. Thanks again. I’ll follow this topic for future information.
I have read the “Drag and Drop . . .” article you mention above and recognize their screen shot to be the location I’m clicking.

I’m so very sorry I was not helpful. :( It’s possible another Volunteer will be able to help but if that doesn’t happen soon then would you like to take this issue to Staff? Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

You’re welcome and I do apologize for not being able to sort this for you. I hope the rest of your day goes well.
