Change in stats – home page views
-
A couple of weeks ago I’ve noticed that in my blog stats, the “home page” started to get listed independently – previously I would only get statistics for each article, no mention of “homepage”
just curious – as my home page changes every time I post a new article, what exactly is that listing showing?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Somehow I did not pick that – would you believe I DID try to search before asking?
:-)
thanks – I will indulge in reading the discussion…. apparently there have been spikes in activity. I think they happened to me too, but since I was out of the country, I had very limited time to worry about them
thank you

Yes I believe you tried using the forum searchbox. Sadly members do not use “retrievable, relevant thread titles and tags and there does not seem to be a process in place whereby threads are assessed for retrivability and tagged properly to enable that.
I remembered the thread and searched and searched using “stats” Home Page” “statistics” etc. The searches produced some irrelevant results, and not the thread I recalled. At the point where I was totally peeved of I typed “bounce” into the searchbox because I recalled I had described it in that thread. Then I found the thread – 12 wasted minutes!

The support documentation searchbox produces more relevant results. However, I usually have a tab open and I use Google for searches. I especially use Google when searching my own blog because the searchbox there is ____.
The results for keyword searches there are presented in “batches” and that means we have to keep clicking backwards to find the dang post in question. Using Google and typing in a single keyword produces a page of relevant results in no time flat.

Well, it’s good to know that there’s SOME justification for my troubles :-)
sorry you had to waste so much time with my question, but if it serves of any consolation, I really enjoyed the thread you retrieved, learned a lot from it

@sallybr
The time waste was my own doing.… WP has been very clear that they’re in the blog business, google is in the search business. The search here is always going to be less sophisticated than Google’s. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-blog-does-not-appear-in-wordpress-search?replies=14#post-417812
If I had chosen to search Google instead I would have had immediate results.
Example search strings (Note that there is no space after the colon following the word “site”.
