Change layout of list of blog posts
-
My blog is not public yet but is using the Illustratr theme. Is there any way without paying for Premium that I can change the Blog page so that it shows posts in 2 or 3 columns with reduced featured image and excerpt?
Ditto for the Portfolio page: it does show the image and project type but not the excerpt.
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,

It’s possible, without the plugins that would be available on the Business Plan (but not on the Premium Plan), though it might be somewhat difficult to construct such a page. For example, you could insert Display Posts Shortcode, customized to include thumbnail images and excerpts, into tables with multiple columns that you create (see the topic Create a table).
Alternatively, you might consider switching to a theme such as Rebalance or Visual:
Ditto for the Portfolio page: it does show the image and project type but not the excerpt.
It’s possible to display the content of projects on a portfolio archive page with Portfolio Shortcode. I don’t know if displaying excerpts instead of the full content of projects is possible with shortcode. It might be possible with CSS Customization.

Thanks, @musicdoc1. I’d not known about the Display Posts Shortcode and have used that to display the 6 most recent posts on the Home Page in [ul] format: not what I wanted but it’ll do. I’ve also used the Portfolio Shortcode to create a custom Portfolio page and will use that instead of the provided one. Thanks again for your help. Maybe if the project takes off, I’ll pay for Premium and get access to CSS.
