change listed blog name

Hello everyone
I’ve just started a blog here but when I log on under Blogs it lists my username rather than the name I have chosen for my blog.

You can change your blog title by going to settings > general. You can also change the tagline as well, but not all themes display the tagline. Make sure and click “save changes” when you are done.

Thank you very much for such a prompt reply.
I’ve tried your suggestion and managed to change the tagline. I don’t want to change my blog title, I want it to show when I log on. Under the photo there is a list of blogs, in my case just one, but it gives my member ID rather than the blog title.
Today I wrote my first proper post but I encountered another problem: the text I was typing went all the way across the screen so it disappeared under the widgets in the right-hand column. For one third of each line I was typing blind so I had to publish and edit half a dozen times to be able to see what I had written and correct it. Here this does not happen, at the end of the line inside this box it goes to the next line.
I don’t want to trouble you any more, SacredPath, I’ll send this question to the Support Team when they are back from their holidays.

Mine are the same way and reflect the portion of the URL before .wordpress.com rather than the blog name.
What browser and browser version are you using?
My first suggestion would be to log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again with the editor. It may be a cookie or cache issue.
Also when you get ready to start writing a post, on the lower row of icons at the top of the editor, on the left hand end, make sure that “paragraph” is selected from the pulldown. Sometimes I’ve seen that be an issue.
