Change my current domain name
-
Hello,
I would like to change my domain name without upgrading. How can I do that? I still want to keep the wordpress.com so it is free.
Many thanks,

Hi there. Instructions to change your blog URL are found in this support doc: http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
Please make sure you read the support doc and all instructions and warnings carefully as this process cannot be reversed.
When prompted whether you’d like to keep the old URL or delete it, DO NOT DELETE IT. There’s currently a bug in the system that will cause both the old and new URL to be deleted, so select the option to keep the old address.
Set the old address to private, and then you can either use it as a test blog to try out new themes and widgets, etc., or you can use it as a backup to your regular blog by periodically importing content to it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
As part of the process you’ll also have the option to change your username to match the new address. Note that if you do this your current username will cease to exist and you won’t later be able to go back to it. If you prefer, you can also keep your username what it is and simply change your display name (what will appear next to comments – on the forum it will still be the actual username that appears). Instructions to do that can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/
To automatically redirect visitors from the old address to the new one you’ll need to buy the Site Redirect upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/ You don’t have to buy this, but if you don’t people who had your old address bookmarked won’t be able to find it, and any links to your old address on other sites will no longer work, so if your blog has been around for a while it is recommended. Alternatively you can leave the old address public and publish a post providing the link to the new address so people who have the old one bookmarked can still find your blog.

Hi thank you. I have got another question. I would like to publish several articles in my blog. I have seen that my current theme allows me having an archive located on the right of the displayed article so I can click to the links from the archives to access to an older article. How can I set this up?
Regards

I think you’re referring to either the archives widget or the categories widget. The archives widget displays shortcuts to your monthly archives while the categories widget displays shortcuts to your category archives (i.e. all posts within a certain category). You can add widgets via the Appearance ->Widgets page in the wp-admin dashboard.

Hello, thank you again for your help. I really appreciate it. I have got two additional questions:
1) At the bottom of my article, there is a box where I can add an advertisement. I would like to add my optin page at this location. I am using Aweber which generates automatically the code of my optin-page. Basically, I will just need to copy it and past it somewhere. Do you know how to proceed?
2) I would like to add a contact page. Is there a pre-defined contact form in WordPress so I do not have to implement it by myself?
Many thanks and best regards

We are not allowed to add advertising to our sites, so I don’t know what box you’re referring to. Are you speaking of the site at http://interracialdatingblondsweden.wordpress.com/, as that site doesn’t appear to have any content? If you’re speaking of another site, please provide that site’s URL.
The only way you can add code from another service to a WordPress.com site is by pasting the code in a text widget in one of the theme’s allocated widget areas. However, please be aware that certain types of code, including Flash, JavaScript and form codes are not allowed on WordPress.com for security reasons. https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/create-your-own-widget/

You can add a contact form to any post or page by using the contact form shortcode. The classic editor (Posts ->New Post on the WP-Admin dashboard) also has a button with which you can easily insert a contact form. Instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
