change my user name (viewer)

    I would like to change my username, and I followed the instructions published to do so (http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/), but it does not work.

    When I click on the “change” link beside my username in Personal Settings, it just takes me to the wordpress.com main page ??!!

    How do I change my username?????

    Hi Paul,

    Click on the upper right profile icon on your screen where your member name appears, and then a small window will appear, and then click on your member name in that window, and the first thing you will see will be your member name with the ‘Change’ option to its right.

    Can you be a little clearer in what you mean by (viewer)? Do you only have a username account (without a site)?

    Are you using an up-to-date browser while visiting WordPress.com?

    @rennickd-that basically takes the original poster through the same steps as outlined in the Support document they linked to.

    @rennickd, thank you, that solved my problem.

    @justjennifer, thanks for your reply. as you can see my problem is solved. By (viewer) I was just indicating that I only have viewer privileges to the blog. Also your comment to rennickd isn’t correct. The steps outlined in the support document I linked to had slightly different steps, and they did not work.

    Thanks for letting us know, Jen. I just updated that support page so it refers to the account settings rather than the personal settings page.

    I looked over the rest of that support page and it looks correct, but I’d be happy to update other sections if you (or anyone else) notices other issues there. Thanks!
