change nameservers
-
Hi, we wish to cancel our plan and unlock the domain. I tried to change the nameservers, but the “Domains” section of my Dashboard looks nothing like the screenshots in the support topic. I’m only seeing a link, “Edit DNS,” which allows me to change MX records, etc, but not the nameservers. I really wish there was some other way of getting support other than posting on a public forum. Please assist!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
We cannot provide accurate assistance to any blogger who does not provide the exact URL starting with http:// to the specific blog they refer to. Will you please do that now? -
The URL was included in the last line of my post… http://newamsterdamchildhood.wordpress.com/
-
WordPress.com is the top level domain here. Every free hosted wordpress.com blog is on a .wordpress.com sub-domain such as this one http://newamsterdamchildhood.wordpress.com/
Thanks for confirming that’s the one you refer to. There is no domain unlocking to be done as you don’t appear to have a domain. Therefore there is no issue with unlocking and re-pointing any nameservers. The only way to migrate your content to any other site is by creating and XML export file which will not include the theme. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
If however there is a custom domain URL involved here that you mapped from you http://newamsterdamchildhood.wordpress.com/ to and you are choosing not to post it know that we cannot help without it.

The domain in question is http://newamsterdamschool.org. I switched it off as the primary domain in order to switch the nameservers to the new server.

Thank you so much for that. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance with unlocking the domain. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

If you go to https://newamsterdamchildhood.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains you will see a section at the bottom called “Domain Administration”. From there, you will be able to create a password and log into a separate domain management area where you can update your name servers.

I do not see a section called “Domain Administration. This is what I’m seeing: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ekefiy9veyyeoqb/Screen%20Shot%202014-01-10%20at%206.57.40%20PM.png

It looks like the domain is owned by a different WordPress.com user. If that is also your account, you can log out of your zakgreene account and into the other one. If that is not your account, you will need to contact that user for more assistance.
