change “no comments” to “post a comment”?

On my home page after the post, it says, “no comments” where “post a comment” should be. In the “about me” section, it looks how I want it to. Is there a way to make my home page comments section look like the “about me” section? I do not wish to purchase any extras. Thanks!

No, there is no way to move the comment box to the main page here at wordpress.COM, and if you think about it, this may not be such a good idea. On post where there are lots of comments, it would require a person to scroll down a long way to get to the next post. I’ve seen blogs where there there are 25 or more comments, and it would be a pain. There are a couple blogs I visit regularly that can have 350 or more comments on a single post.

Thats the way the theme is set up. Once someone actually makes a comment then it will change.

I actually wish they would change all of the themes to say “No comments yet – add yours” because it would make first time blog visitors more likely to click on the link. Unfortunately, as aw1923 says, there is no way to change the text.

Good idea on the “no comments yet – add yours”. I think it hinders people from commenting. Thanks.

Sorry guys . . . I’ve read though tons, and tons of posts. I just started my blog a couple of days ago and pretty much tried everything under the sun to show a “comment” box on the page.

    (1) re-edited the post
(2)checked and re-checked all the discussion boxes
(3)typed and even cut and pasted the “comment” within the html source and still nothing.

The only thing I noticed is within the tag lines– At one point I cut and paste the “comment” there and it seems to show, but a visitor would go blind trying to see this to post a comment. What can I do to have the comment box show up permanently on my page the right way?

    Kindest regards,

    Stratacus!

We can’t help you without a direct link to your blog, starting with http. The site linked to your name is not a WordPress.com blog and we won’t be able to help you with that.
