Change number of Footer Widget areas in Modularity Lite?
-
Hi everyone
Is it possible to remove a widget AREA in the footer of Modularity Lite?
There are 4 areas as standard, but I only want to populate 3, which means there is a gap if one is left blank. I’d like to have 3 and for them to be spread evenly across the bottom of my page.

If you do not want any widgets to display in any sidebar(s) at all (or footer widget areas) you place an empty text widget at the top of each sidebar or footer area. Then click to open, add no title, add no body text, click “save” and click “close”. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/08/02/8-hot-wordpress-com-widget-tips/

P.S. As I’m not sure that will work in your theme and as I don’t have time to set up my test blog with that theme and test it, I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi thank you. I do want the widgets, but only 3, and evenly spaced at the bottom. The default is 4, and making one blank creates an empty space.

Hi there,
The widget areas in Modularity Lite are built into the theme, so all four areas will be on the page even if they don’t all have widgets in them.
However, you can use the Custom Design upgrade to further customize your theme’s design.
If you decide to go that route, you can use Custom CSS to make extensive changes to the design. That includes making one of the widget areas not appear on the page and widening the other 3 widget areas so they are evenly spaced. We have tips for getting started with CSS here:
If you have CSS questions, most of our CSS support is done in the CSS Customization forum by expert staff and volunteers:
