Change of Address

  I want to change my current blog site address to another (free) wordpress.com address. Can I easily transfer all of my published posts to the new address without losing anything?

  If I do so, and then decide to upgrade to a .com domain name (through wordpress), will I still be able to retain all of the posts from my original address?

  You have two options:

  1. You can simply change the name of the blog. Changing the URL will not effect the content on your site. Instructions here:

     http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

  2. You can also create a new blog with your desired address. Then you export all the content from your old site, and import it into the new one. To create a new blog, click here:
     https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/

     Then, to export and import:
     http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
     http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

  Absolutely! Upgrading to a custom domain will not impact your content. Your posts are safe!

  I basically want to just change the website address, without changing a single other thing.

  So, just to be clear, if I follow steps in option 1 above, I can change my blog from katiebrollier.wordpress.com to chezbrollier.wordpress.com, and everything else will remain EXACTLY the same? Posts, uploaded media, tags, etc?

  Hey Katie,

  So sorry for the late response. The staff was at an all-company meeting for the last several days.

  Changing the name of your site katiebrollier.wordpress.com to chezbrollier.wordpress.com will not adjust the content of your site at all. The only thing that will change is that chezbrollier.wordpress.com will appear as the first part of the URL of all your posts, media, pages, etc…rather than katiebrollier.wordpress.com.
