Change of Administrator

    Thank you for your email with regard to the fact that the only person who can make our old xxxxxxxx.wordpress.com the primary domain is the administrator. The administrator has been in hospital and seriously ill. Is there some other way of doing this?

    I am the editor at present and wish to take over as administrator.

    I’m sorry to hear that. WordPress.com staff will respond and try to help you out soon, but I just wanted to give you a quick heads up that phone support is not offered on WordPress.com.

    It therefore is advisable that you avoid posting your phone number on a public forum. I’ve tagged staff to redact it.

    Hi there,

    I’ve updated the primary domain on the site to the free WordPress.com address so the site will still be accessible.

    But domain ownership is regulated by an independent organisation called ICANN, and under their rules only the account that owns the domain, ruptonholder, can renew the domain or transfer ownership to someone else. Transferring ownership of the WordPress.com site itself can also only be done by that account.

    If Roy is unable to do this himself, he likely has someone appointed as a legal proxy to help get his affairs in order, who hopefully will have access to his account, or at the very least his email. I recommend you reach out to that person to help you move control of this site and domain over to your account. Roy or his authorised representative will need to follow these steps to transfer ownership of the domain and site (in that order) to you:
