change of email address for blog (changing back to original one in fact)

Hi there, I have this blog which I created initially with a hotmail address but then switched the blog to the ymail address I’m currently using. I now want to switch back to the hotmail address but I cannot even change the email address to the hotmail one in the settings page, nevermind being able to switch the whole thing. I know I did it before obviously as I switched from hotmail to yahoo, and I still have an email from the happiness engineer about this, but the facility does not seem to be there anymore.

Hello –
Each account requires a unique email address. Is it possible that the yahoo address you want to use is active on a different user account? That would prevent you from using it again.

Thank you for replying Liz. It seems to be as you say but it is the hotmail account I am enquiring about. I want to change the wordpress site account back to the hotmail address but keep the site address (odetojapan.wordpress.com) I chose when I switched to the yahoo address. I hope that makes sense.
I was told in the profile page that the hotmail address was in use so after I applied to have the password sent to me (long forgotten cos I thought the account was deleted) I logged back in and found that the site using the hotmail address (k~~h~~.wordpress.com) was still there minus the content of course (which I transferred over when I changed the email address and site name).
So I’d like to keep the odetojapan.wordpress.com site with all its current content but have it under the hotmail address (instead of k~~h~~.wordpress.com) not the yahoo address.
