change of font and size when preformatting

  When I first started my poetry blog a year ago, I learned how to keep the form of the poem with preformatting, following WordPress instructions. Along the way, I learned that if I copied and pasted to Notepad and from there to my blog, it all held by itself!!! ALAS! A few weeks ago, my computer upgraded to the latest internet explorer (9?) without my initiating it and that shortcut no longer works.

  My problem is this as I go back to preformatting: That changes both the font and the font size. How do I keep that as I preformat or change fonts and size within my posts?
