Change of size of featured images

  • Unknown's avatar

Please how can I change the size of featured Images by template Gateway? How can I know which size have the pictures which are part of template (I want to adapt size of my uploaded pictures to the ones which were part of the template)?

Plus can I use some other theme for one page of my website? And how can I download this one page to my existing website in other theme?

    Thanks

    Martina

The size could be an issue. Not understanding that the header is a background image on that theme could be the issue.

Recommended header size: 2560 pixels wide by 640pixels high.

Have you consulted the detailed theme description page where set up instructions are found at https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway/ ?

I dont mean the Header. I mean featured Images by blog by writing Posts. Which sizes are there in the tempate and how to Change size of my uploaded Pictures so that they are the same size as the featured Images in the blog in the template Gateway.

  • Hi there,

@timethief has given you the recommended image size above. Gateway uses featured images in the place of the custom header, so the header size applies to featured images as well. However, the theme displays that image at different sizes in different circumstances, so it’s best to not use images containing text or containing specific elements that you want visible, as there is no guarantee that the full image will show.

Images are also cropped on smaller screens, like tablets or mobile. They aren’t resized, so even if you uploaded an image with the exact size it shows on desktop, it won’t show the full image on mobile.

Plus can I use some other theme for one page of my website?

You can’t. The Theme is applied to your entire site. You cannot apply a theme to just one page of your site.

And how can I download this one page to my existing website in other theme?

You can export the content of a page at My Site ->Settings ->Export, but you cannot “download” the entire page including its appearance/theme.

Hi kokieh, this with size functioned well.

There is still one Thing. I have one Shopping widget from fineeartamerica and this should be put into html message in the part cart and it should Show in further text the whole site for selling prints. Her is the html message.

    https://fineartamerica.com/widgetshoppingcart/artwork.html?memberidtype=artistid&memberid=501427&domainid=0&showheader=0&height=600&autoheight=true

The Problem is that on wordpress site it does not Show a shop afterwards in the text only as a link which opens in the following page. Can it be changed because everywhere outside wordpress on a normal page it functions and immediately Shows a shop on the next lines where it is put. Therefore I know that something in wordpress does not fit because on my private page outside wordpress it functions well: http://www.gasp.co.at/Cart.htm

  • Can you please paste the full HTML here in the forum for me? Click the Code button, paste the HTML, and then click the Code button again.

There are certain types of HTML that we don’t allow on WordPress.com for security reasons. It’s possible the HTML you’re trying to use contains some of that code, in which case you won’t be able to use it here. But if I can see the code I can tell you for sure.

    Code

    <script type='text/javascript' src='https://fineartamerica.com/widgetshoppingcart/widgetscripts.php'></script>
    <iframe id='pixelsshoppingcartiframe' src='https://fineartamerica.com/widgetshoppingcart/artwork.html?memberidtype=artistid&memberid=501427&domainid=0&showheader=0&height=600&autoheight=true' style='display: inline-block; width: 100%; height: 820px; border: none; overflow: hidden;'></iframe>
  • Thanks for the code. That contains JavaScript and iframe code, neither of which are allowed on WordPress.com, so you won’t be able to use that widget here. You’ll only be able to link to your cart on the other site instead.
