Change of url

I was advised to buy a new .au domain name, to replace the existing .com domain name for security reasons. I purchase http://www.lin-mind-workshop.au from GoDaddy, and attempted to attach it to my blog. Now the old .com site is dysfunctional
and the .au url takes me back to GoDaddy.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello,

I have verified that your site is not hosted on WordPress.com. He is hosted at GoDaddy using the WordPress.org Software.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org sites are different. Check it out: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org

Have you tried contacting your host (GoDaddy) directly to try to resolve this issue?

This forum is only focused on sites hosted on WordPress.com.

Another alternative is to ask for help on the WordPress.org Forum.

If you want to migrate to WordPress.com, security is one of the main features.

Strong encryption is critical to help ensure your privacy and security. We encrypt (serve over SSL) all WordPress.com sites, including custom domains hosted on WordPress.com.

    I hope this information helps.

Thank you for clarifying my situation. I spent a long time on a chatline with a GoDaddy person today, who told me it may take up to 90 days to process my new ownership of the .au domain name. Eventually he suggested I go back to WordPress. I tried to use the WordPress.org forum but, for some reason, I cannot log in. The email I thought I’d used to set up my blog doesn’t work, and nor do my two other possible email addresses. If I use http://www.lin-mind-workshop.com I get a weirdly-formatted version of my blog. How do I find out my original set-up email from WordPress? My apologies for being a nuisance.

lin-mind-workshop.com is at Bluehost so I’m not sure why you chose Godaddy if you wanted to change the domain address of your existing site. It does indeed take 90 days to transfer a newly purchased domain to a different host.
This is WordPress.com which is a different host to Bluehost or Godaddy so this forum can’t assist you. The credentials you use to log in here won’t help to log in to the .org forums as they are elsewhere. You’d need to create a new account there to ask for advice.
Also having a domain ending in .au or .com shouldn’t have any bearing on the security of a site. That is down to the SSL features your host offers.
