Change of url of a particular post
-
Hi all…
I am here to look for any ways to setup like a redirect for free.
My case is that, after I have published a post, I changed the date of the post after several minutes. Due to the change of date, the url of the post is altered. However, Google has already indexed the old url. When people try to go to my post via Google search, they would such be directed to an error page (which the url does not exist). I have waited for like two weeks but the problem still persists…
I wonder if I can do anything in the WordPress side, or I need to go to Google for help. Thank you all in advance~

Hi jas0nw0ng123,
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to redirect a single post.
I’d recommend using Google’s Search Console to request the old post URL be deindexed so that it no longer appears in search results.
Google provides information about that here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1663419?hl=en

Thank you for your reply :)
However, according to your link, it seems that I cannot do anything in the following to make Google permanently remove the post from the index. I really don’t know what can I do to make the right page indexed instead.
The Remove URLs tool is only a temporary removal. To remove content or a URL from Google search permanently you must take one or more of the following additional actions:
Remove or update the actual content from your site (images, pages, directories) and make sure that your web server returns either a 404 (Not Found) or 410 (Gone) HTTP status code. Non-HTML files (like PDFs) should be completely removed from your server. (Learn more about HTTP status codes)
Block access to the content, for example by requiring a password.
Indicate that the page should not to be indexed using the noindex meta tag. This is less secure than the other methods.
