change one widget background

I’m still new to wordpress and wish I could just talk to someone for help :)
I downloaded the G-lock plugin for subscribers and want to change the background color to make it stand out more. I found how to change the color of all the widget text, but do you have to make them all the same text color? I have the fresh news theme. If you answer me back, please talk to me like I’m five. I have never done anything with this, and I keep googling and trying to read and watch videos, but it’s hard to find exactly how to do things in wordpress and then if it’s not your specific theme it’s not necessarily the same.
