Change page background colour

    Hey,

I’m a total newbie to WordPress and the art of designing websites, so please forgive me if I sound naive. I’ve only been playing around with it for around 3 days.

I’m currently in the process of creating the home page for my website. I’m using the sydney pro theme, and using Elementor Pro to build the website.

I created a new page and assigned it as my home page, but I’m having some problems with changing the background colour. So for example – without stretching this section, I’m left with these white sections around my widgets which is I assume the background colour of the blank page?

    White background

    Here is another example –

Is there any way I can change this colour to match the rest of my website.

Again apologies if this sounds totally silly, I’ll learn eventually haha!

    Cheers

Hey there! There are no silly questions when you are learning! Thank you for asking. Let me try to help you. There are a few things you can do.

First, take a look at this page:Customizer

Second, if you have a custom design upgrade, you can make changes using CSS. (All high level customization is done in CSS) Custom Colors

This help page will show you how to enter the custom CSS code: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi there,

On what site are you working? The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites on WordPress.com.

If you’re using the open source WordPress software at another host, you can ask for help from the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums instead.

Or for something like this, it’s better to contact support for your theme directly.

    Thanks for trying to help.

If you look at the OP’s question, they mention both the Elementor plugin, and a premium WordPress theme that’s not available on WordPress.com at WordPress.com/themes. While it’s always a good idea to ask for the site URL to confirm, those are pretty reliable clues that the site they’re working on is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, which means the instructions in our support page won’t necessarily work for them – self-hosted WordPress sites don’t have a “Colors & Backgrounds” section in the Customizer like WordPress.com sites, for example.

If you haven’t yet, please take a look at our volunteer guidelines. That guide includes some more tips to help you give the best possible help to users in this forum:
