change position of widget in imbalance 2 theme
-
Hi I am using the Imbalance 2 theme and have added categories and a calender widget to the header area. I would however like to move the calender to the left of the categories widget, but can only seem to have them one on top of the other? Any help would b appreciated.

Widgets
Imbalance 2 supports three widget areas, one in the header and two in the footer. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/imbalance2/I’m flagging this thread so it gets moved to the Themes Forum where Staff can answer your question.

This could be done with CSS, but that would take the Custom Design Upgrade. The way that header area is designed, the left is title/tagline and menu, center is header image and right is the single-width widget area. It is really only designed for one widget, or a couple of not-too-tall widgets.

Yes, I moved this topic to themes forum as requested by timethief, but the the widget area on the top is designed to be only a single column of widgets (presumably very short widgets up there unless you want a big blank space before your posts are visible!).
The “extra” space in the center is reserved for a second column of your menu. It is not a “bug” of the way the theme is designed for wp.com.
More disturbing to me is the extra space below the menu and widget area. Perhaps an artifact of the original version of the Imbalance 2 theme. ???

The heater is actually only supposed to be a smallish logo under the title and tagline, not in the center area.

Ah, I see now. The left side is set so that if you have a bunch of menu items it goes to two columns, or displays submenu items.

Yes, it is about the size one would call a logo for your site rather than as a “header image.

I take my “can be done with CSS” thing back as it probably should not be done since it would interfere with the menu system.
-
Yes, your are probably right (me knowind zilch about css) but the space under the top parts of that theme and and actual posts: don’t you think one could put something there?
text widgets or a very thin header???The way this theme has been adapted to wp.com does not retain some very nice parts of the original design.

Yeah, it seems a little overly generous on white space in places, and the header area does not seem to be well thought out. My opinion of course and that and $2.55 will get you a Venti coffee at Starbucks in Kona.
-
I’m sort of liking that theme, so I looked at the original from wp.org and it looks like it was adapted for wp.com but not quite perfectly. A bit of elegance was neglected…
$2.25? gosh I think that’s cheap? I usually just want real plain coffee so I don’t know…

The $.99 micky-d’s does me fine unless I’m trapped in an airport. Some of my friends buy coffee from Zinngerman’s, $4.45 (+) a pop— (shakes head: me)
But that theme looks interesting. Maybe a tad unconventional but it looks useable.
I’m thinking about it.

I like this theme as all my posts show up on the home screen as snippets and they are not hidden in archives. Nobody can miss the good ‘older’ stuff.
I like the way http://thepatternedplate.wordpress.com/ has used this theme. See the way the header image is used and the menu buttons..these are very different than can be possible with the theme. any pointers?
