Change post info/meta position

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m trying to have the following setup for the post info (date/tags):

    1 – post title and feature pic

    2 – *post meta*

    3 – main text

    So far, I made it such that the footer is as wide as the content, but it’s currently at the bottom of the page

    .single .entry-footer{
    width: 100%;
    }

    Alternatively, it could also work putting it on the right column (I have 3 columns), above the widgets, below the feature pic/title.

    Any help is more than welcome!

  • Howdy –

    Looking at that site I can see it’s hosted on GoDaddy. It’s not using our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com.

    For help, I would contact them first. Otherwise, there’s a volunteer network available for folks who run their own WordPress installations, which is how you’re set up. That is available at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    On WordPress.com our team offers a managed hosting environment. This means that we handle all the back end details of the site. Things like back ups, updates, security, spam, seo, ssl, mobile optimization, top notch hosting specs, and sorting out any errors or bugs that pop up along the way. When you run a stand alone WordPress installation, like what y’all have set up, then all of those details fall on to you – so instead of being able to focus on content you spend a ton of time and frustration fixing these sort of issues.

    All of our hosting plans are available on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ If you think a managed environment is a better setup for the project and your experience level then we can talk more about how to move your site over and what’s involved with that process.

    @staff-zinnia thank you. we already have a premium plan. would the hosting be free then? If we were to switch, how would that work?

    Thanks for clarifying. Looking at your account and domain, things are quite strange.

    • Your domain appears to be registered at GoDaddy.
    • Your domain NS are pointing to GoDaddy servers.
    • Your domain A records are pointing to WordPress.com servers.

    Additionally, with your Premium plan, you have the ability to edit your site’s CSS, and I don’t see that CSS in use when looking at the WordPress.com site’s CSS editor.

    So before we can properly answer that, we would need to know why you’re using A records instead of NS records and where are you updating the site’s CSS? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

    I honestly don’t know, it’s something that was done a few years ago, before I arrived. What’s the issue in having NS and A pointing at different servers?
    You should see CSS changes, I added straight from the CSS customizazion box.

    Thank you for your help

  • Hello there,

    What’s the issue in having NS and A pointing at different servers?

    An A record has the power to point a domain to a different server, so you could have two locations for one domain, and only see one site when visiting the site.

    I suspect the site is being hosted with GoDaddy at this point.

    I added straight from the CSS customizazion box.

    Can you tell me the URL of where you logged into the site please?
