change PROJETS order

    Hi,

    I have a problem with the display order of PORTFOLIO PROJECTS. It’s impossible to change the default order of the projects using “portfolio shortcake”. (HATCH theme)

    I’m creating content for the web without chronological order (it’s impossible because sometimes I have to upload a old project and sometimes a new project).

    So my problem is that I want to show the projects in chronological order (newest on the top). I have tried naming the projects with de date and using portfolio shortcode. Nothing happened. ¿Is it possible with CSS?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there, can you post the shortcode that you tried to use? If you use order=asc or order=desc in the shortcode it will sort your projects in ascending or descending order.

    There is no way to sort the projects with CSS.

    hi there,

    thanks for your answer.

    I have proved that. But it seems that theme control display of projects.

    Really I like how HATCH display the projects. I only want to change the order of display.

    @javierblancocar, do you have a sample of the code you tried? I’d like to try it in my test site and hopefully I can reproduce it and chat with the developers to see what is going on with it.

    @thesacredpath, the shortcode is:

    [portfolio orderby=title]

    It is written in my portfolio page, https://joaquinblancoarquitecto.com/portfolio/ . I think the “problem” is the theme. If I write the code in another page it works. But It doesn’t work in portfolio page.

    Anyway, I’m going to change the theme because that theme don’t permit to display portfolio projects as a front page. Really I can display portfolio in a frontpage, but it isn’t customize like the theme.

    Ah, the http://joaquinblancoarquitecto.com/portfolio/ page generates the project display dynamically, you cannot create a page named “portfolio” and use the shortcode. To use the shortcode, you have to place it into a page with a different title, a static page as you have found out.

    You can still use this theme and have your projects shown. Simply create a static page for your projects and name it something other than portfolio, add your shortcode to it and then set that page as your static front page at Settings > Reading.

    hi @thesacredpath,

    I have reached that conclusion this week… I have done that, but using shortcode I can’t display project as shown as theme HATCH.

    So I can’t do what I wanted:
    – Order the grid of portfolio projects.
    – Use portfolio projects as a fronpage (shown as HATCH).

    It’s important to know what I can do and what I can’t do :)

    Anyways, thanks for your attention

  • Feel free to start a new thread if you need help with anything else.

  • Just to confirm, have you tried changing each project’s publication date to order your projects? The projects should be displayed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent first.

    @kathrynwp

    Great!!!

    Really I proved that before… but I did something wrong because I didn’t work. I prove again… and yes!!! that was the solution to order the portfolio projects!!!!

    thanks…

    :)

  • Wonderful! I’ll mark this thread as resolved but feel free to start a new one if you need help with anything else.
