Looking for how to change the red accent color on the fount throughout my site? Currently using Lovecraft theme. Is it possible to change this specific font and hover color? If so, how? If not, do I need to select an alternate theme if I wish not to have red? Thank you

If you have the Premium or Business upgrade http://wordpress.com/plans and use Custom CSS, you can opt to apply custom CSS to a WordPress.com theme.

Note 1: If you have the required upgrade you can use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can create a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need with CSS editing.

Note 2: You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.

  • raleightay – Looks like you’ve switched to Sela and chosen one of the free colour palettes available in the Customizer. Let me know if you’re all set or need further help.

Both – keep in mind that many themes come with a variety of free colour palettes, so custom CSS is often not needed to change an accent colour like the default red in Lovecraft (4 free alternative palettes) or the default teal in Dara (6 free alternative palettes). You can see the available palettes in the Customizer‘s Colors & Palettes panel, by clicking “Palettes.”

Hi kathrynwp – thank you for your reply. I do understand the varying color palettes are an option however, it also gives me the option to pick my own color. When I do so, it changes my background color and my social icon color but leaves my menu bar and font accent color the same. (Is there a way for me to send a screenshot here?)

Do you know of another area to customize font and font accent colors? I did not find anything.

    Thank you!!

It sounds like you’re referring to the background-colour selection here?

The background colour is the only specific colour you can select without a Premium or Business plan. With those two plans you get access to other colour-palette tools, as well as Custom CSS, which lets you control the colour of almost any element with CSS code. So if you’re looking to finely control the colour of each element on your site, a Premium or Business plan would allow you that flexibility.
