change RSS feed from Podomatic site to WP site for iTunes
-
Very new at all this.
Questions RE: how to change the feed from Podomatic.com to a WordPress site for iTunes subscribing. I realize if it is done incorrectly, I will have to have the Itunes support people resubmit it which will likely cause a loss to my original subscribers.
I have read Roger Wilmuts excellent responses to others in the iTunes support area (and his site) which has been helpful. Unfortunately, I am still a bit lost.
A.) Do you put the <itunes:new-feed-url>http://newlocation.com/example.rss</itunes:new-feed-url> into the Podomatic Custom HTML (subscribe badges)? This is copied from the site:
Custom HTML (subscribe badges)
These badges we’ve added to your custom HTML enable people to subscribe to your podcast using various podcast readers, including iTunes.
You may add any HTML you like to this area. However, please note that bad HTML can seriously impair the functionality of your page. Please be careful! (advanced only)Is the above area in Podomatic where I would find the “channel” tag? There seems to be info pertaining to Google and Yahoo here along with iTunes. This is what is in the “box”:
<p><img src=”http://assets.podomatic.com/images/subscribe_with_itunes.gif” style=”border:0″></p>
<p><
I am not sure of where to find the “channel” tag and what a “first item” would be. (i.e it was suggested in my research on this that – “place it in the feed anywhere after the ‘channel’ tag and before the first ‘item’ tag.”)
B.) On my WordPress site, when I right click (PC) on the subscribe, I don’t have the option to “copy link” to check the RSS feed URL. Are all WP sites RSS feed the site name with /feed/ after it? i.e. gemsofhealth.com/feed/ (This does “verify”.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, while I have spent days trying to figure this out.
Thank you,
