Change site address

  Hi,

  I currently own a free wordpress website (example.wordpress.com). I would like to upgrade to the Personal Plan and also change the site address completely (example2.com).

  Will I automatically get an option to completely change the url once I upgrade to the Personal Plan or will it simply upgrade me to ‘example.com’?

  Appreciate any help.

  Hello!

  When you upgrade to the Personal Plan it includes a free domain. That domain will ‘point’ to your free WordPress.com site, effectively ‘hiding’ the old url (eg: jyotibrata.wordpress.com) with example.com.

  Hi,

  So my current website is jyotibrata.wordpress.com. By upgrading to the Personal Plan will I be able to change this to, for example: jyotithemathswizard.com?

  Also, will I need to somehow transfer all the contents of my current website to the new one?

  Hi,

  Yes, you will be able to change the domain to your example, and no, you won’t need to create a new site. The domain name (eg: jyotithemathswizard.com) hides/replaces the current site address.
