Change site address

  Hi.. i have 2 sites

  rcmphysicscentre.wordpress.com and rcmphysics.wordpress.com

  At this point rcmphysicscentre.wordpress.com is published and active.
  rcmphysics.wordpress.com is a dummy site and has no contents. Its private and not active.

  I want to change this site address to the other site I have (rcmphysics.wordpress.com). How can i make this switch?

  It is not possible to change a site’s address to another existing site.

  Instead, you’ll need to export your content https://wordpress.com/support/export/ and import it https://wordpress.com/support/import/#importing-content-from-another-word-press-blog

  I do see the option in wordpress. See picture screenshot below. It allows me change the site. However since i also own the desired target site – i am in a fix.

  From what i understand, i have two options. Export/import as recommended by you or delete my target desired site and then use the below option to change the address from existing to desired.

  You cannot change the site address to another address that already exists. That option can only be used if you want to change the address to a brand new one that has never been used before by anyone on WordPress.com.

  To change your site address to that of another site that already exists, the only way is to move everything manually.

  or delete my target desired site and then use the below option to change the address from existing to desired.

  If you delete the site, that address will be permanently removed from our system and you won’t be able to use it at all, ever again. It will NOT free up the address so you can do an address change to it, as address changes can only be made to addresses that have never been used on WordPress.com before.

  Thank you for the clarification. I was about to delete the other site was thinking it will be available for reuse! Looks like i need to manually move it.

  After moving your content, let us know if you also want us to move your followers and stats to the other address :)
