Change subdomain name

  I made a typo in my subdomain name. Changing the address in settings did not work. I do not want to purchase a domain. Aside from deleting my blog and starting over, how do I fix the subdomain name? Thanks.

  Hey there,

  Changing the address in settings did not work.

  Have you tried the following steps?

  You must be logged in as the Admin under the same username account that registered the blog to change the URL. Your desired URL must also be available.

  Follow these steps to alter the URL: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/

  In addition to what @amiteshg93 noted —

  While you can change your free site address, if the address was used previously for another site, it no longer would be available to use.

  It’s worth noting that a new annual plan purchase includes a one-year free domain registration. You can use this to register a new domain to WordPress.com. For many, having a custom domain without .wordpress.com in the site address is reason enough to upgrade, though we offer a wide range of other features in our Pro plan.
