Change submenus hovering colour/change colour of text in contentarea only on phones and tablets

  Hi! Im doing a new website and really dont know anything about Writing codes. I have checked forums and tried what peple write I shall write in the themes custom css but nothing happens.
  I use the Theme ‘Middle Earth’
  The thing I need help with is how to change colour when hovering over submenues? Now all submenues have same colour and nothing happens when I hover over them.

  I also have big problem with how to change text in content area ONLY for cellphones and tablets. When I use pc it works great with White text in the black content area but if you see it on the phone the black area is disapeeared and the background thats Bright yellow shows and then you dont see the White text at all
