    Dear Sir/Madam,

I have a website domain managed bij Amen World. I have for many years used Weebly to build my website, but since last Sunday I have switched to WordPress for building my website. Amen World has managed to redirect to my WordPress website. But for being able to have a https website, they advised me to contact you if you can make the certificate activatable by changing the A or CNAME record in the dns zone of the domain it-languages.nl.

Could you please help me so that the WordPress website that I am showing is secure?

    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Fieke Meijer

    Hi there!

It looks like you are somehow forwarding the domain to your WordPress.com site. It’s not the proper way of using a domain with WordPress.com. The proper way is adding a domain connection, changing the domain’s nameservers or DNS records to point it to WordPress.com, and then waiting for propagation.

Once the domain is properly pointing to WordPress.com, the free SSL certificate will be installed, and your site will load via HTTPS.

Domain connection can be added with any WordPress.com plan. Would you like to tell us a bit about the site you’re building? What’s the site for, and what features do you need on your site? This will help us learn more about your site goals and share personalized suggestions with you.

If you mainly want to add a domain to your site, you can choose the WordPress.com Personal plan.

After upgrading, please follow the steps on the page below. The page also has the nameservers you need to add to your domain after connecting it to your WordPress.com site:

If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com. Follow the steps in this guide to keep your domain registered with your current provider and use it to show

If you’d like to point the domain using A records, you can see this page:

If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. While we recommend using the name servers method to connect your domain name, there are alternative ways to connect your existing domain to WordPress.com. If you already have added services on your domain (such as a custom email address) and do not wish to change the name servers, you

    Dear Aisa,

Thank you for your quick and elaborate answer. In the past I was able to have my domain registered at Amen World, build my webpage in a free online tool with their brand name showing in the bottom and then have this webpage showing up when people insert http://www.it-languages.nl. If ask Amen World to undo the redirect to my WordPress page and if you could give me the A or CNAME record, would that help? Because I only need one webpage, not a complete website.

    Kind regards,

    Fieke

  • Hi Fieke,

As @aisajib explained, to properly connect your domain to your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to upgrade to one of our plans. You can’t connect a domain on the Free plan.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.

    Dear fstat,

Thank you for your answer. I understand. Would a Personal plan also include the annual registration of my domain?

    Kindest regards,

    Fieke

  • Hello Fieke,

Happy to help you with this.

Would a Personal plan also include the annual registration of my domain?

Connecting a domain is free to do with a paid plan.

Registering a domain from scratch, the domain would be free for the first year of registration when purchased with the plan.

    I hope this helps.

    Dear Aleone89,

Thank you for your information. I have just subscribed to the Personal plan.

Would it be possible to delete my question from this public platform?

Thank you in advance and kind regards,

    Fieke
