I purchased a domain name from GoDaddy but when it redirects, it displays the wordpress domain (if the latter is primary). How can I mask this so that it displays my GoDaddy domain instead? When I make the GoDaddy domain primary, I get the following response:

    WordPress.com
    The app is currently unreachable

    Hi there,

You can show your custom domain by making it the primary domain under Store > Domains in your dashboard. We have additional instructions for doing that here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domains-settings/#changing-your-primary-domain

I went ahead and set your custom domain to primary for you. Please note that when you make domain changes like this, it can take up to 72 hours for the new domain to start working everywhere. However, I can confirm that your custom domain is set up correctly and working on my end.

If you have any persistent problems accessing your site, you might want to try flushing your computer’s DNS cache. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, please let me know and I can investigate it for you!

I successfully flushed the DNS cache and the problem is now that when you go to http://bobsuzanne.com this is the result:

    WordPress.com
    The app is currently unreachable.

This was the same problem I had before. Is it because I must wait 72 hours?

    Hi there,

It’s very likely that this problem is just because of the domain changes, and if you wait about 72 hours they should be resolved.

If you are having trouble accessing any other WordPress.com sites, or if you continue to have trouble with your site after 72 hours, please let me know, because that could indicate that something else is going on here. (I am able to open your site at http://bobsuzanne.com/ so there isn’t any problem with the site itself, but if the trouble continues we can check to see if there’s an issue with your connection to the WordPress.com servers.)

You can also try accessing your domain from a different computer or browser to see if you also receive an error there. If you’re interested, you can download the latest versions of popular browsers here: http://browsehappy.com/

It has now been a week and it STILL says:

    WordPress.com
    The app is currently unreachable.

Very unhappy customer here. What ELSE now? It’s probably something simple but until I know what that is, the whole thing is a bust for me. Your thoughts will be appreciated.

    Hi there,

I’m sorry you’re still having trouble with this! It’s possible that your computer is having trouble connecting to the WordPress.com servers. That could be caused by something on your computer or by a problem somewhere between your computer and our servers.

To identify what’s causing the problem, please try these troubleshooting steps:

    1. To start, you can also try disabling any add-ons/extensions in your current browser, in case those are blocking your access. Here are some links to instructions for common browsers:

    2. If that doesn’t work, can you try accessing your domain from a different browser? If you need, you can download the latest version of popular browsers here: http://browsehappy.com/

    3. Try temporarily disabling any firewall or security software you may have recently installed on your computer.

If none of those steps fixes the problem, please let me know and I can continue troubleshooting this with you.
