Change the DNS domain to point to a diffrent IP

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I need to set my domain to a different host which does not give me name-servers put asks me to change the DNS record
    to a specific IP address.

I can see that I can create a custom DNS to a sub-domain (A <subdomain> <IP>) but I would like to change the record to domain itself.
    Is it possible?
    Your help is much appreciated

    Thanks!

    Jamie

I’m would think that the nameservers here can be IP addresses, but I do not know that for sure. I’ll tag this thread for staff attention and hopefully someone will answer shortly to let you know what to do.

  • You can definitely set IP addresses as your nameservers, but you can’t set A records here.

If you really need to do that, I recommend transferring your domain to a registrar that allows more in-depth DNS control.
