Change the name of home page

Hello,
Is there anyway of changing my home page title to writing? It doesn’t appear as a page on my dashboard.
Sorry if I’m being an idiot, I’m pretty bad at these things.

Some themes have Home tabs coded into them. there is not actual page to edit. They are only tabs. You can create a custom menu to resolve this. Please see here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/05/06/the-home-tab/

I ended up adding my blog onto a different page and used the ‘home’ page as an about me section. But I think you’re right, you can’t change it’s name.
I used these instructions, if anyone else needs to know how:

Both juspi and I know we are correct when we provide information and it’s my opinion that we provided the superior solution. That’s why we did not suggest setting a static front page. However, if you are happy with that all is good.
Maybe you ought to consider the impact of that on your returning vistors and the impact of SEO. Will the visitors wish to click through the same static front paqge every time they come to your blog to read your latest posts? Based on my considerable experience as a blogger, I consider static front pages to be traffic killers and will never set one on my blogs.
