change the picture that shows up when sharing a link to my homepage?
-
When i am sharing my link it randomly pulls any photo, and its frustrating as its same image everytime, whilst the image is part of my site, it has no context when linked!
I only have the personal plan so no plugins, which is all I am finding when googling this issue to try and solve it
Does anyone know if I can control image used when sharing the link to my site please?
thank youThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It sounds like when you’re sharing your site’s pages or posts on social media, the same image keeps showing up each time—right?
In most cases, this happens when a featured image hasn’t been added to the post or page. Social platforms like Facebook and Twitter usually pull that image when creating a preview. So if it’s missing, they might default to whatever image they find first (or just reuse a previous one).
I tested this out with your site. When I shared your homepage → https://thegirlspeaks.uk/, I saw one image show up. But when I shared this post → https://thegirlspeaks.uk/2025/04/20/standing-in-the-storm-finding-strength-through-faith/, I got a different image—likely because you’ve set a featured image for that post.
But when I shared this other post → https://thegirlspeaks.uk/2025/04/21/degrees-dont-equal-experience-a-parents-perspective/, it showed the same image as the homepage—so it looks like there’s no featured image set for that one.
My suggestion:
Go ahead and add a featured image to each post or page before you share it. That will give you more control over how your links appear across platforms. Also, this guide is super helpful for how Facebook handles preview images: https://wordpress.com/support/facebook-image-thumbnail/
Let me know how it goes or if anything’s still acting up—I’m happy to keep looking into it with you!
