You do not have a blog URL in your profile, but if you have a blog hosted with wordpress.com then you can upload additional themes and only can pick the ones in your Dashboard – Appearance. If you blog is not hosted with wordpress.com, then you are in the wrong forums and need to head over to http://wordpress.org/support/

I’m sure that wasn’t one of his problems.
Most of wordpress users wonders when will be some new themes available. I was surfing on ther bloggin websites and saw lots of new and cool themes.
Wordpress.com ( the free webblog part ) has the same old and boring themes since last year.
Isn`t that time to renewing the themes list? -
Have you seen the thread with over three hundred suggestions on new themes? If you find one that is GPL licensed and you want it, add it to that thread.
-
I’m not sure i’ve seen it. Due to fact there’s a lot of posts it was kindah hard to walk through all of them. Can you give me the link to there ? it would be awsome
-
later edit
If you reffer to does from http://wordpress.org/extend/themes, that’s not what i’m looking for.
I need them for the free hosting wordpress.
My wordpress blog is : http://retrospectiv.wordpress.com -
That`s not quite the thread to suggest something.
I walked throught the thread to at least september 2008. There are lots of cool suggestions but none of them was added. I didn’t even saw any reply from a WP staff member since long time ago. Can you tell me what’s happening ? -
I have no idea. That is the most recent thread, and the only thread of which I’m aware that staff keeps an eye on for new themes. If you find one you like that meets their licensing requirements, just add it to there. It is exactly the thread to suggest something; it just gives you an idea how steep the odds are.
-
well i just told you that non of the themes added since september 2008 was added in Themes dir untill now. If you take a look you could see that most of them are free and GPL licensed.
What keeps them not adding , it’s a thing i guess they are the only one who really know, cause i haven’t seen any of WP staff giving any reasons for the good themes. -
yeah, I’m bored with the normal themes. How do we download the themes from the themes in the link you gave, raincoaster?
-
You can’t. Read the thread.
Who knows why staff haven’t added those themes? You’ll have to ask them yourself. I have no idea. But if you do find a theme you want, that’s the place to put it for consideration.
If you are desperate for a new look, why not learn CSS and when you’re good enough to make your blog look the way you want, buy the upgrade and apply the changes?
-
I know CSS, but still. if i would afford to i would have bought the upgrade long time ago
-
besides, if i used CSS, no one would see it because no one knows about my blog… :( thanks anyway guys
-
So, if we download it, we can’t make it as our themes? So why do they make it?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
You obviously don’t understand what CSS is. It only changes the look of your theme, it does not change the theme itself. The CSS upgrade does not allow you to upload themes from elsewhere, because they are not just CSS, they are code as well.
Changing themes, btw, will not suddenly make more people aware of your blog. If you want to change the look of your blog, I suggest you do more research in the CSS forum and use the free Preview to test changes you want to make.

WordPress is free.
If you want nice extra bits like more super themes you have to pay for it. Or extra functionality like mapping your wordpress log to an external domain, you have to pay for it.
They have to make money somehow. Their costs are reasonable.
But do you really want the risks associated with having to maintain your own CSS?
