Change theme, lose blog posts?
-
After getting some comments I’d like to change my blog’s theme from Chaoticsoul to something that makes the text easier to read. Will I lose my blog posts if I make the switch or will I just have a few format headaches?

No, you’ll have some formatting headaches, especially if you switch to something with a narrower blog column, but otherwise everything should be fine. Save all your text widgets in a Notepad or other text file first, though, because there have been reports they get wiped sometimes.

Can we have a link to your wordpress.COM blog, starting with http://

OK if this is you http://keithmoore1.wordpress.com/ , then what raincoaster said about widgets is correct. List your present widgets in the order you want them to appear on the new theme’s sidebar and then copy the contents of the text widgets into notepad. You might also want to copy any RSS feeds you are using too.
You can preview new themes in the Dashboard>Design>Themes and find one you like before committing to the change. But I don’t wonder with the auto resizing of images that changing themes doesn’t also resize existing photos to the new theme….am going to have to try that out…

Well, that was an eye-opener! My lovely wide photos on my photoblog were chopped off or bled out of the center div on most of the themes I previewed.
Since you basically deal with words and are already using a narrow theme, your existing images should be OK, though I didn’t search all your pages.

Cool, I can deal with a few widget changes. Just didn’t want to retype all my genius blog entries! :)
Yeah, the http;//keithmoore1.wordpress.com/ is me.
