change time and date

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m a new member and I’m having a hard time setting the time and date on my blog. i just can’t seem to figure out the proper syntax for my settings. I had it once but it just kept showing the same time and date.

Would anyone mind posting the proper strand of code for each, as in cut and paste yours so i can cut and it paste it into my settings field. I would really appreciate this.

If you are talking about your times to report in general for your blog, it is your Admin => Options for the timezone for your blog. You can always edit posts times by the “timestamp” box on the right hand side when you create or edit a post.

That being said, if you are talking about the “strand of code” you might actually not be talking about a blog hosted here at wordpress.com and would need to ask at http://wordpress.org/support/

No, I’m talking about a blog I have here. On my settings page there are two fields: one for time, one for date. I want to know how to have all of my posts tagged with time and date. I put a time and date in those fields on the settings page but the same time and date shows up.

What syntax of code, if you will, goes inside of those fields. I’m lost.

Those fields are to set the format. You set your local time as an offset from GMT/UTC at options > general.

That said, few themes show the time on posts, but most show the date. The date format shown in the date format field does not always control how the date is shown on the posts. Some themes have it coded into the theme files.

    Sorry,

My time and date tag does not show up on my posts. In my options area there is a field for default time and default day. Both fields are blank. Does this have something to do with the fact that none of my posts show a time and date? There is a help link for setting defaults but I don’t understand the command language used in that example.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion. I just want to know how to have my times and dates show up automatically.

Ah, so this is done according to theme? I did have the date set when I first put the page together but it kept showing the same date two days later. I just assumed that every theme showed the date for posts and responses.

I’m guessing this is just how my theme is written. I’m using Press Row.

So, if you look at my the posts I’ve made, there is a field under my tag, the115. Before, when I set the date in my options default date, the same date kept showing up. What do I type in my default field to keep the date current. This should show up right under the 115 tag, in a field right underneath, correct?

    Thanks.

There is a link in the area of the time and date fields that takes you to a page that explains the codes.

Date code as default should be: M j, Y
Time dode as default should be: g:i a

You set your offset from GMT where it says: “Times in the blog should differ by:”

US Eastern is -5, central is -6, mountain is -7 and pacific is -8.

Pressrow will show the date to the left and above the title of a post when the codes above are in the fields.

Thanks. I looked over the page that explained date and time code but I got lost. Sad to say but I have a Ph.D. in Critical Theory and still couldn’t make heads or tales of that one.

Do appreciate it. This is exactly what I was looking for.
