Change title on home tab

    Hi!

Strange that I havn’t found an answer to my problem in the forums… :S But hopefully someone here can help me… :)

I am using the theme MistyLook and by default get two tabs. In Swedish the are labeled “Hem” and “Om mig” (in English it’s probalby “Home” and “About”). I have figured out how to change the label on the “About” tab, under Manage/Pages. But how do I change the label of the “Home” tab?

    Thanks!

    /Jonas

You cannot. It’s not a page like the others, i.e. a page you can type in, manage or delete under Manage>Pages: it’s a built-in navigation tab, to direct a reader back to your front page.

I understand that it is not a page like the others, that I can’t delete it and so on. But I still see no reason why I shouldn’t be able to change it name. It just a parameter somewhere, that should be changeable! :(

It is in the underlying HTML files of the theme. Since we are on a shared platform here, we do not have access to those files. (If we did, your change to the name of that tab would affect every other user of the same theme here at wordpress.COM.)

It’s part of the design of the theme, built into it, so not an option you can change from somewhere in your Dashboard in a free wordpress.com blog. Perhaps you can change it if you know CSS and buy the CSS upgrade, but I don’t know that.

The other thing you can do is switch to another theme with no built-in “Home” page (there are several) and create a custom homepage yourself.

“but I don’t know that”: Vivian does!
