Change to default url

    Hi

    I just read that new wordpress.com sites will have a new default URL – subdomain.home.blog.

    But I can’t find anything on this site about it. I am interested to know if I can change the address of my existing site to the new URL and if a fowarder will be provided?

    The .blog subdomains are currently only available for new sites — there isn’t a way to change the address of an existing site to this subdomain at the moment.

    What you could do is create a new site using a .blog subdomain, export the content from your current site and import it into the new one. We could then transfer followers from one site to the other for you.

    and if a fowarder will be provided?

    If you use the method above, the current site won’t redirect to the new one automatically — a site redirect would be needed.

    Thanks Gemma. I think my only question / request is will the new .blog subdomains become available? It would be great to have existing and new blogs have the same subdomain – with forwarder!
