Change to MX records
-
Domain name held with godaddy.com. Changed name servers to use domain name without wordpress in the URL. Also had email account that is now not working. OOPPSS!!! Broke something and was not aware that MX records would need to be changed in WordPress. Called godaddy support and they provided the information to change MX records.
MX Record smtp.secureserver.net
MX Record mailstore1.secureserver.netBased on example in wordpress domain settings, I changed the records
MX10 smtp.secureserver.net
MX20 mailstore1.secureserver.netEntered above in the edit DNS box and validated without saving. Said they were OK.
Saved the DNS but still not able to use email.Any further suggestions?

This is what my records looked like when I moved my site onto WordPress.COM and kept my old host as the mail servers.
A mail 255.255.255.255
MX 10 mail.my-domain.com.
Godaddy is probably a bit different – but seems to me that your domain needs to be in the mix somewhere. I have a static IP address which I understand is not so common anymore so that part might be a bit different.

I used the information exactly as provided by godaddy. Also the reason why IP addresses are no longer used is because they have a tendency to be changed and you would need to be aware of when that happened so you could make the change to the record on your account.
I think there is a sync time between the change in wordpress and the update at godaddy. I will continue to monitor.

OK. I got it figured out. I needed the correct MX record prefix. Instead of 10 and 20 it was 0 and 10. Now it works.

That’s good to know. Thanks for returning and sharing how you resolved this and best wishes. :)
