change to mx records
-
my e-mails hosts mrsite recently upgraded their mail, however this involved them changing the mx records. The new mx records are 20 b.mx.mrsitemail.com
10 a.mx.mrsitemail.com but I can’t change them myself as they are not in an accepted word press format for DNS records. Because I couldn’t get a hold of support at wordpress as you were closed, mrsite changed my A records, which meant I had access to my e-mails but my website has now gone offline. Please can you update my mx records, and let me know the a records mrsite need so I can get my website back up and running. It’s quite urgent as it’s supposed to be being viewed for some funding applications. Many thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I’ve gone ahead and set up your new MX records.
You’ll need to have mrsite change your nameservers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMThese changes usually take several hours to fully take effect (and theoretically can take up to 72 hours). Definitely let me know if your site and mail are not working a day or two after you make the nameserver changes.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!

Thanks for changing the records. I passed on the nameservers yesterday morning and they said it would take 24 hours. That has passed and still no e-mail or website. It’s getting a bit desperate now. I’m waiting for some important e-mails to come in and my website has been down for over a week! They changed the A records last week to give me access to my e-mail again which has now gone since the mx records were changed. Do I need to change the A records back, and if so can you provide them?
-
I just had a look and the original A records were missing since the mx records have been updated. I’ve added them back on and saved them. I hope these haven’t changed! Please let me know if I need anything else. I really need this website back up and running!

Been talking to MrSite live chat and they said they need new A records which should start 209 or something. The A records that are currently on my DNS are the old ones: A mail 193.227.106.203
A mail2 193.227.106.204. They said they need the A records for the site I have.p.s is this different to the IP address. If so can I have both just in case?

Hi there!
Your website is up currently. I just visited lisajcoates.com and was directed to your WordPress.com site.
MrSite does not have any control over your MX records now that your nameservers are pointed to WordPress.com.
I set your records to this per your original request:
20 b.mx.mrsitemail.com 10 a.mx.mrsitemail.comI had removed your old records so that there was no conflicts, but it looks like you’ve added these back.
A mail.lisajcoates.com 193.227.106.203 A mail2.lisajcoates.com 193.227.106.204Can you confirm with MrSite what your DNS records should be to get your email up?
-
Ah thanks, I’m on chrome so I had to clear cookies to make it work, I’ll message mrsite now quickly and get back to you in a few mins
-
Apparantly the DNS records should be this:
Primary: ns0.hosthost.co.uk
Secondary: ns1.hosthost.co.ukand should be in addition to the mx records and a records (you probably already know that but just in case!)

Hi there!
I’m sorry for all of this back and forth. I know this can get very confusing.
You should not need to change your nameservers to set up your email. I’ve found this help doc at MrSite:
http://www.mrsite.com/tipsandhelp/article/How-to-point-another-domain-to-your-MrSite-mail
I also see that you’ve set up an email forward. You can’t have email forwarding and email hosting at the same time.
Would you like me to remove that email forwarding and remove your old mail records? That should get your email working again within a day.

how long would it take for the e-mail hosting to kick in? I’ve got some important correspondence happening at the moment about jobs
-
It will probably take about a day or two for the email settings to take effect. Just let me know when you’d like to continue fixing your email issue!
