Change to my own theme
-
When I created my site I decided to use one of the preexisting themes. Now, I would rather créate my own theme from scratch, but I don’t find the option anymore. How do I change from already made to own made theme?
Thank you ery much,

WordPress.com won’t allow you to install a custom theme.
To install a custom theme, you’ll need to self-host a wordpress install.

Does this mean there is no posible way to create my own theme? But on YouTube there are tutorials explaining how to do so… What do you mean by “self-host a worldpress intall” (Sorry I am not english and I don’t undersant) THanks a lot!

It’s ok. I’ll try to explain. It’s OK to be a bit confused about what wordpress is.
So WordPress.com allows you to have a blog, like you do already. This is hosted on wordpress.com, giving you an address like formatgesimpuls.wordpress.com (or a yourdomain.com if you bought one).
However, WordPress is also a product that you can download for free and install on your own server. Installing WordPress on your own server allows you to customize everything. You can install custom themes, plugins, edit the code, etc. This is ‘self-hosted’.
Hopefully that makes more sense now.
For more information about self-hosting your WordPress blog and installing custom themes and plugins, I wrote a post about it on my blog.
If you need anything else, let me know. :)

synbyte explained it well, and I also wanted to point you to a few places where you can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and self-hosted (WordPress.org) sites:

Let us know if this helps.
