Change URL

Hi, currently my URL is .home.blog but i want to change it to .wordpress.com – I have tried to change it but it does not let me confirm the change. Please help

Once you change the drop down from .home.blog to .wordpress.com, try typing the first part of the address “claudiameco” into the box again before completing the change? This should do the trick.

Hey @darciemg – I’m looking for the reference now, but to the best of my recollection it isn’t possible to switch a .home.blog address to a .wordpress.com address using the changing site address utility. The user would need to register a new site skipping adding any information to the first screen. When I find the reference I’ll paste it here.

OK- After reading a few dozen forum threads and signing up for yet another brand new site with a .home.blog address, I believe I am in error in my above reply. If the corresponding address ending in .wordpress.com is unavailable, the form blanks out with a message that the site has already been used.
The reference I found is
A free WordPress.com address can also only be changed to another free WordPress.com address – it cannot be changed to one of the new free .blog addresses.
and I could have misinterpreted it to mean it as not being able to switch from .home.blog to .wordpress.com address as well.

@justjennifer, that was correct before, you’re right! When the free .blog subdomains came out, you needed to register a new site to change addresses. They changed it in November.
